Basic Handling Skills Test (Learner Licence practical)
$120 (Test only)
This is the assessment for the Learner’s Motorcycle Licence and includes four assessments:
- Basic turn and stop
- Figure of eight
- Emergency stop

1 Hour Learner Licence Coaching followed by the test
$135
For those with recent and substantial motorcycle riding experience using clutch and gears.

2 Hour Learner Licence Coaching followed by the test
$235.00
For those with little or no previous motorcycle riding experience using clutch and gears.
Additional lessons may be required depending on your competency. This is suitable for those with little to no riding experience.

What Do I Need to Do?
To get your learner licence, you need to complete a practical test and a theory test. You must be at least 16 years old to apply for your motorcycle learner licence.
Where Are They Held?
Our Basic Handling Skills courses are currently held in Manukau velodrome Manukau.
How Many People Are on the Course?
All our BHS courses are one-to-one, ensuring a relaxed and focused experience. We can handle groups if you have a partner or a couple of mates who would like to join you.
The Practical:
The practical test, called the Basic Handling Skills test (BHS), is what you will learn with your bike forever. All our BHS are conducted on a one-to-one basis.
The Theory:
Once you have passed the practical test, you will receive a certificate to take to your nearest VTNZ/AA centre to sit your theory test. For online mock theory tests, see online.
What Do I Do Now?
Give us a call, and we can arrange a time and location for your Basic Handling Skills test, or book via the booking engine.
What Do I Need?
- Your driver’s licence or passport/photo ID.
- Long pants/jeans, enclosed footwear, sweatshirt/jacket, waterproof clothing (depending on the weather).
- Helmet and gloves (if you prefer to use your own, otherwise we will provide these).
How Long Does It Take?
Depending on your previous experience, it can take from an hour to 2 hours to complete the test. We understand that everyone is different, so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Do I Need My Own Helmet and Gloves?
No, we can provide these for you, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Do I Need My Own Bike?
Bike is provided for this course.
